Q How long will my switch take?

We work hard to ensure your switch goes as quickly as possible, normally within 21 days. We will keep you updated of progress during this time.

Q Do I need to contact my current supplier?

No, we will contact them to let them know about your move.

In a few weeks time we’ll ask you for meter readings, at which point we’ll start billing you for your energy, and your current supplier will stop (so that you never pay for the same energy twice). Your old supplier will then arrange to send out a final invoice to you.

Q What happens if I already have a smart meter?

f you have a second-generation smart meter, this will transfer to us with all its smart benefits intact, and we’ll start communicating with it to collect your accurate readings.

If you have a first-generation smart meter not made by Secure, unfortunately it won’t currently work with us in smart mode, so you'll need to give us meter readings.

Our first-generation smart meters are made by the company Secure. Other suppliers who also use them include Utilita, Ovo, E.On and Octopus.

If you have a secure smart meter, we will continue to use this in smart mode so nothing will change.

Q How do I switch my broadband?

Switching could not be easier. We will handle the entire process and it only takes about 14 days. You'll keep your existing telephone number, and if you don’t have a telephone line we can install one for you.

Q Do I have to tell my current provider I am leaving?

No, leave this with us and we'll let them know you're switching. However, if you're currently a Virgin customer, you will need to call them after your line is working with us and ask them to cancel the service.

Q Does unlimited data really mean unlimited?

Yep, it really does. Unlimited data means there’s no speed restrictions and no data caps when you use your SIM in a mobile phone in the UK. Just keep in mind that our fair use policy does apply – and when roaming in Europe, your data is capped at 14GB each month.

Q Can I use my own phone when I join UW?

Of course. You can use our SIMs with any unlocked handset or, as we work with EE, any phone on the EE network too.

Q Can I keep my phone number when I join UW?

Yes, simply contact your previous network provider or text 'PAC' to 65075 to get a code which will allow you to bring your current number over to your new SIM. This won’t disrupt your service either.

Q What network does UW use?

We work with the EE Network to ensure broad coverage and signal strength across the country.

Q How do I earn cashback?

Use your card at one of our many participating retailers and you can earn up to 7% cashback.

Q How does cashback pay for my UW bill?

We will add the total cashback amount you earned as a credit directly to your UW bill. You’ll be able to see exactly how much you’ve saved, month by month, with just your everyday shopping.
